Dermatophytosis – Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Definition

Dermatophytosis (also called as tinea) is a superficial fungal infections is normally classified according to location on the body.Dermatophytosis is unique for two reasons: Firstly, no existing tissue is invaded the keratinised stratum corneum is simply colonized. They presence on the keratin of the skin and utilize the keratin as their source of nutrition. However, the existence of the fungus and its metabolic products generally induces an allergic & inflammatory eczematous response in the host.

Dermatophytosis may impact the scalp , the bearded skin of the face , the body, the groin, the nails, and the feet . These symptoms vary from mild inflammations to acute vesicular reactions. A number of dermatologic conditions impact the pinna. Most conditions cause injury elsewhere as well. Rarely, a disease impact the pinna alone, or the pinna is the initial site affected.

Causes

Dermatophytosis can exist by transmission directly through contact with infected wounds or indirectly through contact with affected articles like as shoes, towels or shower stalls. Another factor exist is the combination of little hot weather and tight clothing, which develops fungus production.

An allergic & inflammatory response generally results from the fungus and its metabolic product presence on the skin.  The severity of the condition will be dependent on the kind of dermatophyte that occupy the skin.

Dermatophytosis infections result from number of different fungi and are very infectious .  Direct contact or indirect contact with the wound will result in the wound being passed from person to person.

Symptoms

Dermatophytosis begins at the tip of one or more nails. Fingernail infection is much not occur generally. Examine will reveal gradual thickening, discoloration and crumbling of the nail. Eventually, the nail may be completely destroyed.

Dermatophytosis will include raised, sharply defined and itchy red wounds in the groin area that may increased to the buttocks, inner thighs and external genitalia.

The symptoms of dermatophytosis are as follow:

  • Depending on the condition, itchiness may be absent, or quite severe.

  • May be subtle or dramatic hair loss. it may be symmetric, or not. This is generally seen on the back & neck but can also occur on other parts of the body.

  • Crusting and scaling on the body may be severe, and thick crusts may occur on the face, ears, and nail beds.

  • Blackheads may be seen in some condition and may resemble chin acne.

  • Hyperpigmentation and redness may also appear.

Treatments

In treating small, uncomplicated dermatophytosis infections located in places other than the scalp, Topical anti fungal treatment should be effective. It include clotrimazole & miconazole (available over the world) and terbinafine cream. Gently cleanse affected region, and apply cream to skin rubbing in thoroughly. Do this two times in a day.

Treatment is strongly prescribed under certain conditions, such as when:

  • The infected cat is in close interaction with children, elders, or immunocompromised people.

  • The infected cat is in close interaction

with people having occupational works (i.e.,doctors, nurses, physicians).

  • Environmental contamination create a risk to many people, such as in an at-home daycare.

  • Environmental contamination create a risk to other pets (dogs, cats, rabbits) in multi pet homes.

My Mom has really bad (toe) nail fungus and takes a lot of pills already. Does anyone know of a topical (cream or ?) that will cure or help this? Tea tree oil and lamasil creme and topol(?) didn’t work.
where did you get the Dactarin liquid ?

She will more than likely have to recieve the oral version of Lamasil. It is realy expensive, as you also have to take it for quite some time. We are talking almost a thousand dollars. Topicals have a very low rate of success simply because they can not get through the nail itself, to the fungal problem.

Lamasil is to expensive and my Ins. wont pay any of it.

try some salicylic acid.

The contagious fungus infection called ringworm is caused by the tinea virus. Affected may be the scalp, the body, the feet or the nails. People may catch this infection from direct or indirect contact and even from a contact with the soil. Ringworm is not an infection that can not be treated. There are known many treatments that might help with fungus killing. In order to prevent ringworm people should make sure that infected persons and pets get appropriate treatment. It is recommended for healthy people not to get in contact with infected persons and especially not to share personal items.

Also called tinea after the virus that causes it, ringworm is a zit that appears on a person’s skin.

A group of fungus organisms called Dermatophytes is the one responsible for the development of ringworm. As it was written before Dermatophytes affect different parts of the human body causing different types of ringworm such as scalp ringworm, body ringworm, foot ringworm and nails ringworm. The funguses that cause ringworm are spread all over the world especially in humans. These funguses might live in animals and soil too.

People can develop ringworm after direct contacts, indirect contacts such as private items usage, and in rare cases after soil contact.

Starting as a small pimple, ringworm of the scalp becomes larger and larger leading to scaly patches of temporary baldness. The hair that is infected becomes fragile and usually breaks off.

Body ringworm starts as a round patch anywhere on the body, excepting the feet and scalp. The most common body ringworm is the groin area infection. The zit usually expands and its center clears forming a ring. In groin ringworm more than one patch may appear in the zone that becomes itchy.

Also called athlete’s foot, foot ringworm usually occurs between the toes.

Nail ringworm causes disintegrated or chalky nails.

Depending on the type of ringworm in some cases the infection may occur after 10 to 14 days or even in 4 days after contact. For scalp ringworm symptoms appear after more than 10 days, while skin ringworm symptoms usually occur in less than 10 days but sometimes 4 days are enough for the rash to appear.

Everybody might develop ringworm. Many cases were seen in schools, day-care centers or nurseries. Athletes are usually at risk. Along with athletes outbreaks have been seen among high school wrestling teams.

In cases when inappropriate treatment is used there is a risk of an infection that will never clear up.

1. Morning i want to wash feets in apple cider vinegar and after washing tea tree oil massage on toes and fingers.

2. Day same procedure to repeat again.

3. Night washing with vinegar and while sleeping vicks vaporub on toe instead of tea tree oil (or i should use both together????)

4. Wearing cotton socks day and night

Try Lamisil cream over the counter. If that doesn’t work go to your doctor for a Lamisil pill prescription.

My Nurse Practitioner told me to use vinegar. I is not helping.

You should look into tea tree oil. It’s good for loads of things! I mix the oil in with all my lotions. Tea tree oil can be used as an antiseptic and also an antifungal! It does wonders for my skin. I would recommend buying some tea tree essential oil and mixing it in with a good lotion and using it frequently. Hope this helps!
