If it’s this bad, then get a good, solid product like lamisil, not just some home remedy. Treat the shoes as well with a spray. Also, she should avoid closed footwear as much as possible. She should be careful not to infect others as long as it’s so bad, but still letting her feet breathe is good against the fungus.

People think you get it from going barefoot but the swimming and *wearing shoes afterwards* is the most likely cause. You pick up the spores, but just like the name says, it’s called *athlete’s* foot, not barefooter’s fungus or something… like any fungus, it loves a warm, dark, slightly damp place to grow, so if you put your bare foot down in a locker room or poolside where the floor is warm and damp enough and others go barefoot often enough so there are live spores, and afterwards you put on shoes, you’re providing a perfect place for the spores to thrive. Remain barefoot, and on the dry, well-ventilated bare skin in the daylight, any spores you might pick up will just dry up and die. Nor are you likely to get it from a store, mall or sidewalk; unless you’re walking _right_ behind an infected person spores won’t live long enough to spread in those places. (At home it can spread to other family members even on dry floors; since it’s such a small area it’s not unlikely you will follow ‘in your sister’s footsteps’ within minutes if you’re both barefoot in kitchen, living room or hall).

Titanic Antifungal Pump Spray, that worked great for me! But remember it has to be the pump spray, and I noticed they have been not selling those hardly anywhere anymore, not even Wal-Mart!!! Just when I had found the perfect thing they are taking out of the market and converting it more in aerosol spray!!! Goodluck!

If it’s worked itself underneath her toe nails – she’s going to need to get treatment (like a "lamisil"-type product) and talk to a doctor before the fungus gets deeper into her tissue.

You can try over-the-counter medications for foot fungus (tinactin, desinex, etc) … but it will only treat surface infections on the skin & between her toes.

she desperately needs a doctor for this as a fungal infection thats got under the nails is actually difficult to get rid of .
in future you need to treat foot fungal infections quicker with lamisil cream from the doctor .
i once read that it can be treated with a home remedy of mouthwash
it important to always dry between the toes thoroughly maybe use a bit of talcum powder to help dry off the excess or even use the hairdryer on your feet

I swim like a fish, and i always rinse my feet with a little bit of Clorox (not a lot it will burn), never had any kind of fungus no matter where I swim. peace out
